End of a Great Season

Following a gruelling sail in the Solent the other day on Merlin, I now know why I haven’t done Cowes week- but thats it- Its over till the spring. No more looking at Cambermet, wind directions, which way the boat faces and working out how I on earth I get Merlin off and back on her mooring.  So from the Crew Forum I’ll sign out till next spring.  Please let me know if you no longer want to receive these emails.

If you want to know all the winners and losers for the year, all be revealed very shortly on the website so do look us up. xod-itchenor.com

If you’re interested in chartering out your boat or if you’re a crew thinking of helming, or a crew or skipper wanting to get more involved on one boat then joining a boat partnership is the way forward so please get in touch and I’ll explain what it entails. – That way you get to steer!

After a freezing cold day of racing the Laying up Supper was very well attended by the X fleet and anyone who didn’t receive their well earned cup at our XOD dinner was able to receive it last Saturday- as well as all the last minute.com trophies.

Beadle Bowl           X152 Beaver

Autumn Trophy       X80  Lass

Morton Reeves       X80  Lass

Centenary Trophy   X80  Lass

Stocker Salver        X181 Xtrvagance

Pilsey Pint              X184 Quixotic

Bowerbank             X181 Xtravagance

Falling Leaf            X 181 Xtravagance

So Lass and Xtravagance have more or less cleaned out the trophy cupboard between them. Well done to everyone up and down the three fleets, its been a glorious summer of sailing here at Itchenor, with ideal weather conditions.

Lastly a huge thanks to those of you who have used the crew forum this year. The numbers are dwindling so please don’t forget us next year. Its important to take out new as well as experienced crews so they can see what fun we all have on these glorious keelboats and perhaps join us.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the emails BUT there are a lot of you who have signed up to the crew forum and still haven’t found your way onto one of our beautiful classic boats. I know lots of you are helms on cruisers, crews or skippers on dinghy’s so its not as if you don’t know anything. SO time to put it right. Make a new years resolution to clear the diary for Saturdays or Sundays  and even Wednesdays and come racing with us- it really is fun, well most of the time anyway!

You might be a boat looking for partners – let me know and lets see if we can get more boats on the water next season.

See you on the water – in Merlin in the spring
