Message from the Class Captain

Dear XOD Sailors,

I hope you are all set ready for the Festive period. Decorations up, shopping done, presents wrapped and our beloved XODs tucked away in a warm, dry barn ready to receive a coat of varnish.2018 was a good year for the Itchenor Division. The weather was kind and we had good club racing throughout the season. Lass won Points Week, Cowes Classics and Cowes Week which must be some kind of record. The Itchenor travelling contingent did well at all the Open events and so many boats achieved good results throughout the season.

2019 should be another great year. Points Week racing will be held at a more sociable time (11.50 – 14.20) than last year. Cowes Week racing for the Captains Cup has been shortened to 7 days with a grand Prize Giving on the Friday evening before the Fireworks. The Solent schedule has been revised so that there is only one weekend where events clash so there is even more reason and opportunity to include some “away” fixtures in your sailing calendar.

The social planning is well underway. As a start, we have all be invited to an evening at the North Sails in Gosport on Thursday 7th February. We will get a guided tour of their incredibly impressive loft as well as pick up some tuning tips over a glass of wine. Details will follow but please put the date in your diary.

I hope you all have a very happy Christmas and look forward to a warm and breezy 2019.

Now, where is that recipe for Eggnog.

Best regards,

David -- David McGregorXOD Class CaptainItchenor Division
