What an amazing week of sailing and fun. Racing every day at the top of the tide in all conditions from no wind, huge downpour and rowing skills required to strong winds and plenty of stomach muscles to lean out. Competitors going from hero to zero and zero to hero. The Benson Platter has been all to play for, it wasn't a foregone conclusion at all with very close racing throughout the week. The winner of the Benson platter is X26 Catherine, with Neil Hart and Colin McKinnon. 2nd X91 and third X50 Xcitation. 4th 5th and 6th were X80 Lass, X51 Athena and X186 Phoenix.
Five boats and their crews arrived from the other Solent Clubs, who really seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Not to mention the social side, with drinks at Jetty House, kindly sponsored by Haines and hosted by Roy Griggs with huge thanks. Wednesdays party at the club and the XOD drinks party on Thursday by kind permission on Felicity & Paul Reed, again huge thanks.
