A glimpse on the season

Its exciting! The season starts soon and there are lots of things happening so please keep an eye on the emails every week.  For starters just a few dates for the first half the season to jot down.

Sunday 15th March - Ready to Race Day.  Get a hang of your duty by coming along to see what is expected

Saturday 28th March - Racing starts in the afternoon with the Early Start Series. Perhaps more than 4 boats might venture out this year. Makes me shiver thinking about it!

Friday to Monday April 10th -13th. Easter Weekend racing - Party on Saturday night!

Sat 18th April - Royal Lymington Sailing Club visit. Some Lymington X boat sailors are going to "borrow" some boats and come racing with us. Also later that day is the  Spring General Meeting

Wed 22nd April TP. - TP stands for "The Probert" In honour of Tony Probert who worked so hard to open up Wednesday evening sailing.  So from now on the X fleet have renamed Wednesday racing. Look out for Wednesday June 17th We will have a special race with invited guest Juliet Probert to give out the bottle of wine and not necessarily to the winner!

TP's will not always be at 6.15 pm - look out for my or Rogers emails. If the tide and weather is great we might start the racing much earlier to get the best out of the day. We will inform everyone on the Monday of the same week.

May 23-24th We're joining HISC in their Regatta and racing for the Hutcheson Cup

June 13th -14th Eastern Solent and Relative Youth Championships - OOH races. If you're a relative youth and interested, please get in touch with Roger

Sat 20th June ISC Regatta

Monday 22 - 26th June Itchenor Points Week now called ISC Keel Boat Week. Don't forget the Class Captains drinks party on the Thursday.

During the year there will be tea time talks - How did they get past me to win? How come their spinnaker was flying and mine hanging in shame etc Look out for them after sailing. That means if you win you talk! Top of the tide racing with 2 long races and a picnic on the water - date to be arranged when the weather is good. Calling All Women  - We're planning a race for women for the Matson Spoons. This is to encourage those that say I can't helm - like me- and those that say they can't fly a spinnaker, pull in the jib, or can't cope with the testosterone on the start line or any other excuse we all manage to come up with! There will be a training session the week before a TP race with a focus on women and then the race on a Saturday - sometime in high summer when the weather is perfect!! Let me know if you want to join me.

Also there might be a tea time bake off for X's  TTBOX  This all depends on whether the cakes at the club have improved!

Hopefully BBQ on the beach and much more. and an up the creek challenge
